If ever there was a time that Kindness needed to be amplified, shared, and declared it is now. And so we wonder… what would happen if in December this year we each took to doing one thing (or many things) to bring kindness to others. And what would it look like if we could share about these things with one another – not for the notoriety but for the opportunity to inspire others to do the same for someone else. How many little or big things could we do? Could our little sparks become something more? Could we shift the atmosphere? Well let’s see.
So here is the challenge, the project, the opportunity:
- Do an act of kindness in December, small or large, but either way preferably one in which you remain anonymous. Have it be one that you never would have done outside of the ask here.
- All ideas are welcome. Come up with one all your own or use one that you see that someone else has done in the comments. Do not limit yourself, get creative – let’s be honest this period of time in history will probably require additional creativity in light of social distancing.
- Once you have completed your act COMMENT ON THIS POST WITH WHAT YOU DID BUT DO NOT ENTER YOUR NAME. At the point the comment form asks for one JUST PUT ANONYMOUS and feel free to make up an email like 123@yahoo.com or something similar when it asks for email or use your own but know it will not be published. The objective is not to get praise from others but to simply shine light, hope and kindness in a world that so desperately needs it.
- All comments must be approved by us (Unity Tree admin) before they are published (seen by the public) so as to ensure that anonymity is maintained and that the overall objective here (kindness) is maintained. Wishing you joy friends as you set out to practice random acts of kindness.

Paid for the car behind me at Starbucks

I was at a restaurant to pick up food and offered to buy a meal for a homeless person waiting around. I asked him what he wanted and ordered food for him and sat and ate with him. Others nearby saw us eating and stopped by to give him money “for his next meal” <3 Kindness is contagious!

I’ve done this several times already. When I have cash on me and go to Starbucks or Coffee Bean drive thru, I like to ask the barrista how much the order total is for the car behind me. I leave the barrista a tip in that amount (usually rounded up to the next dollar). They are always surprised and I let them know that if people are in this line, they can afford their order but I want to make sure the workers know how much their hard work is appreciated!

I cleaned out my Christmas decor and had an extra fake Christmas tree. I posted online to give it away to a family in need and had a nice young lady get it, who just paid the rent, and couldn’t afford anything else for the holidays.
